Hi,
might be, I have misunderstood you, but it seems to me like all of
your problems can be solved with existing tools because you can
achieve all desired tasks using the common G@H client.
Read about the procedures I use for months with 100% success:
1) to get new tasks (fill cache)
--------------------------------
Start ghclient in the desired folder where you like to get the cache
files. If this client is already running, you got this question:
c&p-------------
####################################################
version 0.99
Genome@home may be already running or was shut down improperly.
Do you wish to continue? [yes/no]
c&p-------------
Answer "yes" and the client starts DL of new work:
c&p-------------
Genome@home continuing . . .
Starting screen log
Client ID is 4589397289024567
No previous results found . . .
Filling cache. Will save and continue current work . . .
GetWork:
Connecting to Genome@Home...
Requesting data from Genome@Home...
c&p-------------
After finished DL you'll find 6 files like *.2 in the folder.
If you only wanted to get cache work, stop client typing Ctrl-C and
move cache files where you want to have them.
If you want to supply more than one client with cache files, repeat
this as often as you like.
2) Sending results
------------------
You NEVER have to stop a running client only to send results!
Do it the same way as desribed above. If there are unsent results,
you will be asked again:
c&p-------------
####################################################
version 0.99
Genome@home may be already running or was shut down improperly.
Do you wish to continue? [yes/no]
c&p-------------
Answer "yes":
c&p-------------
Genome@home continuing . . .
Starting screen log
Client ID is 4589397289024567
Completed results: output.chi.375985
PutWork:
Sending in results: output.chi.375985
Connecting to Genome@Home...
Sending results to server
c&p-------------
This will send all results in current client folder.
After all results are sent, cancel this client task by typing Ctrl-C
and all is done.
Note:
The only possibility to do a mistake is to forget cancelling the 2nd
client after sending all results.
If you find this a big problem, you can move results to a special
send folder with the same ID in it but only for sending purposes.
Then you can start a ghclient.exe in the send folder and this never
will affect the production folder in any way.
Give it a try and ask again if you run into trouble...
Best regards
Herb
