Also Readme.txt zu PRP:
PRP 2.1 by George Woltman.
The PRP (probable prime) program is designed to speed up the search for
new primes in Yves Gallot's Proth prime project. This project began with
Yves landmark proth.exe program several years ago. Over time the program
grew to find Fermat factors and more types of primes. Paul Jobling later
wrote NewPgen to speed up the sieving process. This new program takes
the output of NewPgen and screens it for probable primes. The output of
this program is then given to Yves' proth.exe for final primality proving.
To use PRP, first run NewPgen to create a file. Then, run PRP and
select Test / Input Data. Specify the output file of NewPgen as the
input file to PRP, also specify a new output file, and start at line 1.
Finally, give the output file from PRP as the input file to Proth.exe.
You can interrupt execution at any time, PRP will begin where it left
off when you run it again.
You can monitor PRP's progress on the screen and in the results.txt file.
You can change how often the screen is updated in the "Iterations between
screen outputs" entry in the Options / Preferences dialog box.
You can use Windows 95/98 service to autostart PRP when you boot your
computer. You should probably leave the priority set to 1 (the lowest).
Affinity can be useful for dual-CPU machines. Round off checking
should be left unchecked.
Good luck and happy hunting,
George Woltman

Antwort an George Woltman
Hallo Thomas,
The program supports 4 different code paths for LL testing depending on
the CPU type. It also has a few different factoring code paths. You can
force the program to choose a specific code path by setting the proper
combination of these settings in local.ini:
CpuSupportsRDTSC=0 or 1
CpuSupportsCMOV=0 or 1
CpuSupportsPrefetch=0 or 1
CpuSupportsSSE=0 or 1
CpuSupportsSSE2=0 or 1
This shouldn't be necessary though. Setting the CPU type in Options/CPU
is the preferred method. There is one IMPORTANT EXCEPTION. If you have
a Celeron the program distinguishes between a Celeron 1 and a Celeron 2
by the clock speed you enter. Anything above 533 is assumed to be a
Celeron 2. If you have a Celeron 1 chip running above 533 MHz, then
set CpuSupportsPrefetch=0. If you have a Celeron 2 and it is running
at 533 MHz or less, then set CpuSupportsPrefetch=1.
Setze also Doch bitte mal CpuSupportsPrefetch=1 in Deiner local.ini und starte Prime95 neu.
