Nope, I guess Norman is right.
You can set the amount of available memory that BOINC is allowed to use in the preferences. If the value is set to 50%, that ("cmsearch needs 3814.70 MB RAM but only 2031.23 MB is available for use.") would be the error message you get.
Some WUs are in need of a lot of RAM and if only those are in the server's queue at the time your hosts request new work, you will not be delivered any.
In this case you can either wait for smaller WUs to be queued (which normally does not take that long) or allow BOINC to use more memory.

that's right. 32-bit systems cant handle more then 4GB, but the WU need only ~3.8gb ram.
your system is also using too a lot of RAM and other applications, so you have not enough ram free for crunch this type of WU. (2031.23 MB is available for use.)
so you can never get a WU before other ( lesser ram hungry ) WU are released/ready.
do you have no workunits more in queque ?

On one machine i have only one RNA-job and 1 GPUgrid-job running and this machine refuses to download any other RNA-jobs.
I have no other CPU-jobs waiting.

we are currently sending out many of the (yet unfinished) large Intron_gpI WUs. Indeed, for these we have further improved the delivery seetings to protect machines with low RAM from getting these. As you see, these settings now work well because we assigned 4 GB of RAM to these WUs. So, with 4 GB of total RAM (minus whatever your OS will use) you will not get these anymore. However, there are many more in the pipeline and your machine should get smaller ones quite soon. In fact, I am a bit suprised that our server does not immediately deliver smaller ones to you because there are enough on hold (a third of a million WUs in stock right now). I will ask Yoyo to take a look into this. Just make sure, you have enough HD space available, because that would be another reason for the server not to send out much to you...

But for now i can download again on at least one machine.

Well, that is not strictly necessary but now of course indirectly is the case except for 32-bit machines where - for whatever reason - people have installed more than 4 GB of RAM.

That is by far enough. Things become critical when the free HD space is going down below approx. 5 GB.

Well, the P4 single core will not really help much as a server but we will try to use it for WU preparation. The Dell server will be used after Yoyos return from his business trip. But it will certainly help us.
