hier entsteht ein neues Boinc Projekt, welches die Wrapper Technologie benutzt.

DrugDiscovery@Home is a research project that uses Internet-connected computers to model the behavor of lead compounds that could be developed into new medicines. You can participate by downloading and running a free program on your computer.

DrugDiscovery@Home is in an early alpha phase and does not have a formal relationship with academia or the pharmaceutical industry.

Aber eigentlich gibnts doch schon genug Drogen- äh Medikamentenprojekte. Was wird denn diesmal versucht zu heilen. Pocken, Mumps, Masern oder Grippe??

Gibt immerhin so um die 30.000 Krankheiten, wenn ich das recht in Erinnerung habe... da sollte noch genug zu tun bleiben.

Dazu gibt es noch ne Menge Krankheiten, die noch nicht mal diagnostiziert werden. So liegt bei schweren geistigen Behinderungen in Deutschland die Diagnosequote bei 20% (!!), d.h. in 80% der Fälle kann man den Angehörigen noch nicht mal sagen woran ihr Kind leidet. Von eventuellen Behandlungsmöglichkeiten/Medikamenten wollen wir da gar nicht erst reden.

ich habe bisher keine Bestätigung von Jack bekommen ob ich den Einladungscode weiterreichen darf. Aber wer will kann auf meinen Weak-Account-Key einige WUs probieren:

Laut Forum wird aktuell ein H1N1-Protein aus dem Jahr 1918 untersucht:

• "My collaborator asked that we start docking analysis on a protein used by the new strain of influenza H1N1.
  Currently we are running some screening on both a proprietary database and the open NCI Plated compounds of some 600K compounds. At the moment I cannot comment on the advantages of running these simulations. At the very least we can use these benchmarks to compare with other analysis."

Meine erste WU (95757) benötigt 52 MB RAM, die Rechenzeit steigt noch an über erst 15 aktuell 23 Minuten. Muss ins Bett.

Edit: 24 Minuten sind es geblieben (15-Minuten-Wus hatte ich laut Taskliste ebenfalls), die WUs bleiben eine geraume Zeit auf 75% stehen, der RAM-Bedarf stieg gestern noch auf 72 MB an, laut Taskmanager handelt es sich um eine 32-Bit-Anwendung.

Kann es sein, daß unter Linux die Workunits rund 50% schneller berechnet werden ?

Der Opteron 270 (2,0 GHz Standardtakt) des Linux-Rechners wird ja kaum schneller als mein Q6700 @2,66 GHz laufen ? Andere Faktoren wie Optimierungen für AMD-CPUs ?
