OGR-WU seems to run very long

#1 Ungelesener Beitrag von DoctorNow » 07.03.2009 17:59

Hello!

I know my AMD XP 2200 isn't the fastest machine anymore, but until now every OGR-WU I crunched on it for over 5 hours did show progress so far.
But now I have a WU which is already over 5 hours and is still on 0,0 %.
Are the new WUs really take so long on such a machine or could it be that there is something wrong with it?

Hello,
I had a look into the results which are currently completed. It seems that the ogr getting really big. I found results which got 1500 credits and were running between 30h and 70h. A 70h run would mean the progress indicator jumps every 10h. So if dnetc is consuming cpu time on your PC I would say everything is ok.

Wow, that's much... :o
Good they have checkpoints.
Okay, I will let it run to see when the progress jumps up, then I can calculate how long it would take.

P.S.:
Just registered that I got no E-Mail-notification from your post, although I had activated to note me if there is an answer.

Wow, the WU did the first 14%-jump at 12 h 45 min! :o
Calculating that up, it would run for about 90 hours or maybe even longer, I sometimes noticed in the past that the last 14% take longer than the others.
I'm looking forward to see what credit it finally will get for that... :D

No, it wasn't, but found out what happened. Strangely enough, as I registered to post here it seems to had automatically used my old e-mail-adress which I don't use anymore.
Now I have changed it and it should work now. :)

They really seem to run extremely long most recently. I just finished a workunit that granted me almost 1500 credits, it took me 32 hours. Not so much of a problem for that PC but I can imagine that some hosts are having trouble finishing these workunits within the deadline. If this keeps on going you might consider decreasing the number of tasks per workunit again.

EDIT: I just read one of your posts in the German message board and apparently the 7 workunits are there to keep the PS's fully occupied, in that respect it's probably just better to leave it the way it is.

:cry2:
