Virus in code.
Virus in code.
Since I have not posted a bunch (my German is non-existent) I cannot post the path to the filename (grumble). However, the file path ends with crunch_1.01_windows_intelx86.exe. McAffee detected virus "Proxy-DistNet" in the code. My machines therefore delete the application without running anything.
Hello,
yoyo@home uses the original distributed.net client without modification. Only the name of the binary was changed to contain the platform and the version. As I understood the explanation of McAfee
http://vil.nai.com/vil/content/v_121868.htm
and distributed.net
http://www.distributed.net/trojans.php
there where some trojan programs in the past which installed the distributed.net client on systems and the owner was not aware of it. Therefore McAfee detects it as trojan.

Hallo!
Auch ich habe das selbe Problem. Mcafee erkennt alle Aktivitäten als schädlichen Vorgang. Gibt's da keine Lösung?

Re: same problem

Yoyo, shouldn't you release some new code, with a slightly different code and application number, as a different application number than we use now? Perhaps that that will free people with McAfee of the problem. You can hardly expect people to get rid of McAfee just because you don't like its way of detecting false positives.
If your code was hijacked before and brandished as bad by some AV companies, then don't think about going on BOINC, unless you want to answer 36 cries of help (at least) per 4 hours. (And new people don't read Stickies).
Make sure your original code is OK and that it, by name, isn't included it any AV library. So tell McAfee that your code is OK.
