I know that evolution@home is missing a lot of exciting features found in other global computing systems. Unfortunately this cannot be changed over night, so it will take some time until evolution@home catches up
Er hätte schreiben müssen "this cannot be changed over years" - fürchte ich.

Weckt mich auf, wenn sich doch noch mal was tut -

Hello folks,
my name is Manfred Lindenmaier. I'm responsible for the development work around the grid version of the evolution@home projekt's software.

There have been many questions around the "automated statistics upddates" in the last few days.

So I see the necessarity to give you an overview over the currently ongoing development works on our side.

1. We've a tested and working version of a highscore system which will automatically update every 6 hours. But behind this system there has to be a database in which all 'till now communikated results have to be embedded

2. We're just now on the way to import all data into this database. Therefore we have to rearrange the data which is held in tab sequented textfiles into xml and from that xml-data into the database. We can do that in a speed of 'bout 30MB/hour... And we have 'bout 7GB of data...
... That meens: This will last some time

3. There must be a possibility for biologists to analyse the data in the database and to get them in a usable format. Until now the biologists parsed the complete tab-sequented textfiles to only get some of the factors embedded there. We're designing a new interface to the database where the biologists only get the data they need. In a tab sequented form. So they can use the old tools they used until now...

4. The next step must be a possibility to directly upload the results in our database and to administrate user/group-accounts
... But that needs some time

I hope that this post answers some of your questions...
If your questions are unanswered, I will kindly answer them directly per email (I seldom look on that forum) so please refer to manfred@hopfish.de

Thanks a lot,
Manfred Lindenmaier

Wäre ja schön, wenn sich bei evolution@home dann doch tatsächlich noch mal etwas regen würde. :D
