Thanks for fixing it! You mention granting credits to my team. Do I have a choice (Ars Technica) or do our credits just go to the Yoyo wrapper team?


Also I found this posted today on the Muon website that answers my previous question. Guess I asked a day too early

Here's what the Muon Admin/Scientist Stephen Brooks has to say on the subject. Sounds like an enthusiastic endorsement for Yoyo:

This required some careful work to make sure the samplefiles and lattices got there correctly (I don't think BOINC natively supports intercommunication like this) and that the results history was preseved between work units. But now it works, and since I've seen some of the "(Boinc Wrapper)" users in the top simulations by muon % score it's clear that they're making a valuable contribution to the project. So many thanks to Yoyo for his work and hopefully this gives people another way to "enjoy" Muon1. Smile

On the stats pages of the wrapped projects (ogr, evo, muon) all credits are granted to one dummy "yoyo@home wrapper" account. Otherwise your team would get credits twice, in the boinc world (yoyo@home) and in the none Boinc world. Since alle projects listed in DC-Vault this would not be fair.

My goal was to bring the power of the Boinc community to the none Boinc projects and the Boinc users expect there credits in the Boinc world. If somebody want's to have the credits in the team of the none Boinc project he still can use the none Boinc client of this project.

I introduced some logging in the muon validator and hope that I found the problem now and fixed it. We will see if it happens again.

Thanks for explaining the reasoning. This makes a lot of sense, otherwise teams would receive double the credit for projects in the DC-Vault. There has been a persistent grumbling from our OGR-25 team members who were afraid that the Yoyo wrapper would push them out of a "podium" finish. Unfortunately their grumbling and pressure has made it difficult to recruit members to our Yoyo team. Personally I think that you've done a great job with your project and have provided a nice service to non BOINC projects that desire more participation.
