why i cant get job?

At this time the downloadingrate for a 8 core machine is 1 or 2 wu's then wait 1 minute and then perhaps another 1 or 2 wu's.
There is nothing else running on this machine except gpugrid, which uses no cpu.

This morning i downloaded 125 wu's, which i returned already.

What to do?

I checked host 4208. It seems that most of the wus, which are scanned in one request have more RAM requirements than your host has available. They need 3.8 GB, but this host has only 3.2 GB free.

It is still terribel. I cannot download even a lot of small WU's on all other machines also.
The time between request is better now (about 10 seconds).

In 30 minutes time i have downloaded 25 wu's. That is NOT good at all!!!

Please have a look at it?

Currently I get mostly WUs in the 30-50 MB range uncompressed, they probably will not be sent out to machines with less RAM than 4GB.
That is just how it works.

That should be 64-bits machines, because xp-32 bits does not see more then 4 GB.
So RNA can also change the prerefences, so that we can choose!!??

You do not need more than 4 GB, but you need to allow BOINC to utilise it all. If you leave the standard setting of... 50% or 60% of memory usage, you will only get work dedicated to 2gig-or-less machines.

All my machine have standard 4 GB. I allow BOINC-manager to use 98%.
That should be enough.

Most of the wus which we currently have to sent require 3.8GB of RAM, otherwise they will crash on your host. I checked your host 4208 and saw a lot of such things:

...but given the 170k of WUs ready for delivery on the server, there need to be MANY more small WUs in addition to the 30-50 MB set, right? So, why aren't these then delivered? If we had ONLY 30-50 MB WUs sitting there, we urgently would need to process different WUs in addition. There are enough WU archives of regular WU sizes on hold on the server and the project currently is slowing down...

My only Windows host (2GB RAM only) is getting a lot of small work units (approx. 3 to 30 min each) and hasn't had any problems getting work for the past couple of days.

Sorry Michael/YoYo,

I do not get any wu's at all!! Host-id 4208.

This machine runs under windows-xp with nvidia-card (gtx480) running gpugrid. Machine has 4 GB ram of which 98% is availabel to boinc (RNA).

I cannot follow it anymore!

PS At 11.15 i downloaded on this host about 35 WU's of which a pair of very long WU's (more then 200 hrs).
