If the "update" button in the BOINC manager doesn't help, please abort the Workunit and leave us your HostID and WorkunitID (or ResultID), so we can grant your credits.

Hi, can you extend the deadline on this task? It has been running for about 450 hours now.

cms_GA[e20-30MB_Lin64f]_1_Oryza-sativa-Japonica-roup_AP008215.lin.EMBL_RF00028_Intron_gpI_1307967123_53536_1

The task ID is 12352191 and my host is 9963.

Thanks

This one seems that will need more than 20 days. Please extend the deadline.

It is supposed to checkpoint, isn't it?

thanks

To answer your question:
No it is not checkpointed as it is a CMSearch XXL application.

The only thing checkpointed is our CMS S application, where you can determine how often it will checkpoint by the name: "cms_GA-p[EZ-Lin64f]_3_Escherichia-coli-UTI89_CP000243.cir.EMBL_RF01002_mir-936_1310580723_61243-in.zip" for instance will checkpoint three times. You can see that by lookin at the number behind "[EZ-Lin64f]_", which actually gives you the number of workunits contained in that particular *.zip.

The CMS S is compiled of multiple Workunits in oder to reduce network traffic to the server; since cms XXL only contains ONE workunit per zip-file the so called (by BOINC) Checkpoint will be written right at the beginning of that workunit, which is of no practical use, for if you abort/interrupt the process it will certainly start in the very beginning.

There is however a workaround if you just want to 'shut-down' your machine for the night: Make sure, you checked 'Leave application in memory, if paused' and use Windows Hibernate-Mode, thus creating a good chance the workunit will resume from where it paused.

Thanks for the explanation, the unit has been running without pause since it was received. I do not need/want to switch-off the PC, it has happened before with xxl units and is ok.

Only that tomorrow is the deadline and it seems that it will not finish on time so the reason for askiing an extension.

Always happy to help; however I cannot help with the extension of the deadline. That's something only Yoyo can do.

My rice plant has eaten another two results today, two more people aborted it - you probably need to insert "WillGiveYouTonsOfCredits" somewhere in the WU name ;-)

@Trotador : Mine took 2,366,308.67 seconds on a not too fast machine.
