Re: How Much Work Available?
there is a cmc-app too for win x64 but it´s the most time unused, because linux OS should be better (stable) then win. ( personaly i think windows (servers/desktops) can be also ).
my maschines are up most over 30 days without any reboot.

are those the WU's where RNA World are doing testing under preferences:Norman hat geschrieben:there is a cmc-app too for win x64 but it´s the most time unused, because linux OS should be better (stable) then win. ( personaly i think windows (servers/desktops) can be also ).

Run test applications?
This helps us develop applications, but may cause jobs to fail on your computer
I am also curious about private queue's?
You can submit 5 more jobs for: cmalign (5), Test App (5),
What is this for and how do I use it?
Are those WU's higher paying in terms of credit?mxplm hat geschrieben:...And with Linux x86_64, you could also crunch the cmcalibrate app, which is not delivered to any other architecture/OS.
Or are they WU's that run for longer periods of time?
If they are long runners like the recent one that Michael did which ran for over 1000 hrs then I am very interested. Currently got 2 WU from another project that are long runners. Both are and were monsters at a minimum of 1256 hrs each
BTW ordering my 6 core Phenom first thing in the morning

Yes, that is the developers playground. If you want to help us test new features, please select the test app. Since you seem quite interested in RNAW, I'm sure you could give us useful feedback in case you notice something odd when testapps run.The Knighty NI hat geschrieben:are those the WU's where RNA World are doing testing under preferences:

The private queue is for other scientists who want to use our BOINC project for their research. It is currently only partly developed and should not be visible to any normal user. I'll have a quick look into this. EDIT: Ok, I found the problem, you shouldn't see those links (cmalign (5), Test App (5)), any more. Thanks for the hint, this probably saved us some trouble :)The Knighty NI hat geschrieben:I am also curious about private queue's?

Like cmsearch, cmcalibrate WUs greatly vary in runtime and they are rewarded exactly the same in terms of credits. However, there is normally less work for cmcalibrate (as you can see on the status page), since you only need to calibrate each cm (Covariance Model, RNA) once. Afterwards, you can use the calibrated CM file to search for the RNA in every genome file you have and this multiplies to a lot of WUs.The Knighty NI hat geschrieben:Are those WU's higher paying in terms of credit?mxplm hat geschrieben:...And with Linux x86_64, you could also crunch the cmcalibrate app, which is not delivered to any other architecture/OS.

This may have been set for me due to starting this thread:mxplm hat geschrieben:ThThe private queue is for other scientists who want to use our BOINC project for their research. It is currently only partly developed and should not be visible to any normal user. I'll have a quick look into this.

Its good information to have so that I can explain to scientists that may be interested in RNA World who are examining bee disease's and ailments.

Re: How Much Work Available?
I read that one. If you want, perhaps you can find a bee's genome and test it for whatever RNA we have (or you come up with - I wouldn't know what to look for, nor do I know what the results could mean). However, you were not explicitly set as an authorized user for the private queue. We simply forgot to restrict access to the submission forms of the new apps when we introduced them to the BOINC server, so everyone could see them. This was no security problem by now, since the submission forms behind those links don't work at the moment, but it could have caused some trouble in the future.

Re: How Much Work Available?
The "private queue" is a job submission form. It will become available once it is completely error-free. At present, it works fine for CMCALIBRATE, so searches could be done using our infrastructure and submitting a genome to be searched and a (calibrated) RNA covariance model. The idea behind this is that the system we have established should be open to more than just ourselves.
In fact, I believe RNA World will be the first DC project allowing public job submission and I am proud on that one in advance.
Michael.

Hi
Just borrowed an internet conneciton.
Sadly my puter has melted down so not able to do any WU's. Its gonna be about 2 weeks until I can get this sorted out. Grrr. Think its the PSU burend out with the introdution of the new 6 core proc because it was rated at 125W. The PSU was rated at 400W.
Look forward to getting back in the grove when I am able.

Re: How Much Work Available?
Hi
Sadly about a week after I was last able to connect I lost my job and am currently looking for another position that pays decent wages. This added to my puter blowing up means "it never rains but it pours" Lol
Just as soon as I can get my puter repaired and running again I will. Missing this project desperately.
Currently using an old very cranky machine that will overheat as soon as I look at it. I get on average about 15-20 mins use then shut down Ummm
I'm sorry all to all the users that where waiting for my puter to finish units that you would have received credit for.
Take care one and all.
I'll be back just as soon as I am able.
