Hallo,
das mit der Deadline ist mir auch schon aufgefallen. Aber da waren die 20 WUs schon unterwegs. Die nächsten werden eine längere Deadline haben. Generell ist ECM aber noch eine Testapp und da sind die deadlines so kurz, weil ich nicht 2 Wochen warten will bis der Test durch ist.
Du wirst ECM erhalten haben, weil Du in Deinem Profil testapplikationen zugelassen hast.

I have my preferences set to not run 'ecm', but received at least 3 workunits anyway. Somehow, they got through. The deadlines are too short, and they've jumped to high priority. Another problem is that I prefer to only run the medical/biology/physics projects, not mathematics based (encryption as an exception). I will allow these workunits to finish.

english is ok for me.
You got ecm application, because you selected to get test applications in your profile. The deadline is short for test reasons. I do not want to wait 2 weekks for the testresults.

in der eben erhaltenen Ladung (6 ecm-Wutzen auf einmal) steht die Fortschrittsanzeige auf "20%"
ein kleiner Schritt für die Menschheit, aber ein großer für die ecm-app
Allerdings verwirrt mich die Versionszählung aktuell ein bisschen aktuell 0.02 (war da nicht schon mal 0.05 ???)

I just received my first three ecm workunits and they all errored out immediately with exit code 195 (0xc3):

Two of those results have been sent to another computer in the meantime and failed there, too. My system is running Win2000 SP4, the wingman is running Linux, however.

So I wonder if the workunits are bad or if there is some issue with the application. The three workunits are from the ecm_op_1230847680_19408913261_19M.C186_xxx_x series.

Btw: Never saw a credit claim like "4.82595912853654e-05" before.

Also finished two results without error.
The results have steps with 20% in the progressbar, where the ECM app will start new

Allerdings verwirrt mich die Versionszählung aktuell ein bisschen aktuell 0.02 (war da nicht schon mal 0.05 ???)

Version 0.05 ist die 64 bit Linux version, bei 32 bit Linux bin ich mit der Zählung erst bei 0.02 angekommen.

in the meantime all these wus are finished with success. So I think the wu is not buggy. Maybe there is a problem in Windows2000 or with your firewall, which blocks the starting of ecm.exe.
Can you please make the following test:
1) In boinc's yoyo@home project directory is a ecm621_win32_c2d.exe. Just copy it to any new directory.
2) Create in this directory a file with the name "in" and put

3) run ecm with the following command line

Hi yoyo,

thanks for your reply. I've done as you have proposed. On the system in question (2x Athlon XP running Win2000 SP4) the application is crashing immediately and the out file is empty:

For comparison I copied the folder to two other computers and tried it there. The application seems to run fine on those (it's still running, but the out file already contains some information). These other two computers are an Athlon 64 running WinXP SP1 32bit and an Athlon 64 X2 running Win Vista 64 bit.

So my guess is it's either Win2000 or the Athlon XP which is causing the problem here. The Athlon XP is only supporting SSE and MMX. I noticed that the application is called ecm621_win32_c2d.exe. Is it compiled with optimization for the Core 2? Maybe it needs SSE2, which is available on both the Athlon 64 and the Athlon 64 X2 mentioned above.

You said the firewall could cause a problem. How is that? Does the application start any network communication?

Concerning chat ... uhmm.. sorry, I don't have any IRC program installed currently. Maybe we could discuss it here in the forum?

thanks for your tests. It seems that win2000 is not supported by ecm.

chat) You do not need a irc program for it. You can use the Java Applet or cgi chat:

Firewall) Desktop Firewalls does not allow to start any program on the PC. If the wrapper starts ecm, the desktop firewall disallows it until the user explicit grants execute rights.
