One task has now reached 70 days run time, another one on the same machine 40 days. Hoping for the best... :D

AWWW YEAHHHH!
Speed just completed the last task that I was "manually babysitting" outside of BOINC!

WU 6341796: https://www.rnaworld.de/rnaworld/workun ... id=6341796
Resumed Task 14953851: https://www.rnaworld.de/rnaworld/result ... d=14953851

265.9d CPU Time :smoking:

Michael:
Now would be a good time for us to cleanup the ~20 tasks that require manual validation.
Any word on when we can tackle that together?

Today is my first visit here. I'm glad I came!

I was wondering about my long running work unit ([url]6330948 [http://www.rnaworld.de/rnaworld/workuni ... id=6330948], 6 days down, 75 to go). I was surprised to find an 83 page thread on the subject going back almost 9 years! :3d:

Also, coincidentally, this task was created on 15 Dec 2013. Happy birthday, 6330948!!!

My worry about the task was the deadline of 28 Dec 2018 per BOINC (11 Jan 2019 per this site) and was afraid I wouldn't get credit. I see now though that it's trickling results back so I guess I shouldn't worry. It also appears that the work unit has only been completed once, 12 Dec 2013 - 4 Jul 2014, so with some luck this will run to completion around the end of February and will, finally, produce a quorum!

Hi dduggan47,

The deadline is automatically extended at the server, so long as your PC stays in contact with it. It assumes "lost" if it loses contact for 2 weeks. So, keep that internet connection connected!

Also, regarding completion estimation, the BOINC estimation is really not useful. Instead, it's best to compare CPU stats with the wingman that completed it. I took at look at the task, and your wingman CPU, and your CPU, and came up with the following estimates, listed below. Basically:
It looks like it'll probably take somewhere in the ballpark of 110-225 days, in order for you to complete it.

Code: Alles auswählen

Threads: You All, Wingman All: 11,511,156 133d 5:32:36
Threads: You All, Wingman Half: 18,553,785 214d 17:49:45
Threads: You All, Wingman Single: 19,262,387 222d 22:39:47
Threads: You Half, Wingman All: 6,025,235 69d 17:40:35
Threads: You Half, Wingman Half: 9,711,528 112d 9:38:48
Threads: You Half, Wingman Single: 10,082,428 116d 16:40:28
Threads: You Single, Wingman All: 5,573,202 64d 12:06:42
Threads: You Single, Wingman Half:	8,982,937 103d 23:15:37
Threads: You Single, Wingman Single:	9,326,011 107d 22:33:31
BOINC Measured FLOPS (million ops/sec):	13,670,672 158d 5:24:32
Good luck!

YESSSSS!
Zathras just completed my last v1.18 task in BOINC!
This allows him to finally upgrade from VirtualBox 5.1 to VirtualBox 5.2 :)

Thanks for the response, Jacob.

That estimate is consistent with the guess I've made since writing my original post. If I just multiply the % complete by the time so far, I'm in that range, which is far longer than what BOINC is saying.

Meanwhile I will keep my fingers crossed and my laptop connected.

Happy New Year all!

- Dick

I've got a workunit (This one) which accidentally ran into timeout.
It's not necessarily a long running work unit but the computer is quite old.
Is it possible to reactivate it, or is it OK to stop it?

As you can see here. this work-unit has been completed once after crunching for about eleven months.
You might have it running till the end of the year.
The deadline will be extended automatically if your machine is online on a regular basis. Being offline for two weeks would have the server cancel the work-unit.
Good luck. You'll have to sort of baby-sit this work-unit.
I expect Jacob to give some additional input.
Gruß, Jens

Is the task still running in BOINC? I don't know the answer for a timed out work unit. Would love an admin to chime in.

Sorry, my bad.
I immediately went over to the page I linked and totally ignored the machine id.
Indeed, only an admin would be able to tell if the task might be retrievable, and only if there still is an existing backup on the machine.
