Settings in BIOS - what if a UEFI instead?

#1 Ungelesener Beitrag von robertmiles » 18.12.2013 07:18

Your home page calls for changing some settings in the BIOS to enable VirtualBox, but as far as I can tell, my computer with enough memory to run workunits using VirtualBox doesn't even have a BIOS. It has a UEFI instead, which is a newer way of providing the functions previously provided by the BIOS. So far, I have not determined if this UEFI even offers the settings you want changed. You may need to change your home page to recognize this possibility.

I checked the UEFI settings available during booting. Nothing relevant showed.

How do I determine if my CPU even has virtualization capabilities? It's an Intel i7-2600.

Do I have to wait for a few workunits to determine if the current settings are suitable?

Hi robert,

I turned on server debugging so next time your computer requests some work I can see the cpu features. In general your CPU is supporting VT-x and UEFI is not so different from BIOS. I found this explanation about turning on Intel Virtualization Technology (which means VT-x): http://superuser.com/questions/367290/h ... otherboard Depending on your Motherboard manufacturer and the UEFI they use you may have to switch to an advanced mode to see all the options.

It would be nice if you could tell me if you found the option and I will update the instructions on the main page.

I just found another request in the log:

Code: Alles auswählen

2013-12-18 10:02:37.1225 [PID=18789] [send] CPU: req 0.00 sec, 0.00 instances; est delay 0.00
2013-12-18 10:02:37.1225 [PID=18789] [send] NVIDIA GPU: req 0.00 sec, 0.00 instances; est delay 0.00
2013-12-18 10:02:37.1225 [PID=18789] [send] work_req_seconds: 0.00 secs
along with the CPU features which show that your CPU has the Intel Virtualization Technology enhancement but somehow your client is not requesting work maybe another project just got a lot of work assigned and there is no time left for RNAWorld.
