Not enough time allowed for deadline

Hi Guys,

I am currently crunching WU 5605138.

Estimated run time is '4w 4d 2h 36m 53s (2774213.1518298 s)' = approx 32 days

I have spend 326 Hours with another 350 or so to go and it has been on high priority since I got it. Now I got it on the 10th of Oct and the deadline is 31st october. = approx 21 days.

I am happy to keep crunching if you can extend the deadline for me but perhaps this deadline error needs to be looked at, there is no way you can crunch 32 days worth in 21.

Ian

In the future, would it be possible to implement a system where the deadline is assigned based on the estimated time determined by the reference system. For example: 1.5 times the estimated runtime on the reference system. This would provide enough time for most computers to complete the task and also reduce the number of tasks that are aborted by people who see that they will not finish by the deadline. Are the tasks still considered valid if they are returned after the deadline?

P.S. The deadline for Workunit 6315579 needs to be extended so that I can finish in time. Thanks.

I was a bit reluctant in the past against it because the estimation is not exact and wus might need much less time. But if the deadline is increased to many month and a user just aborts the wu without reporting it to the server, the server issues a new result after many month. But I will have a lookminto this.

I can reanimate the task if you are behind the deadline and the task is still running.

Workunit 6328319 has been running at 100% for several days now and might not finish before the deadline, so it will probably need to be extended.
Thanks,
