Final long task

#1 Ungelesener Beitrag von Fardringle » 09.04.2023 15:49

I noticed that many of the remaining long running "Monster" tasks have been completed or removed from the queue. Please do not cancel or abort my last task. It has been running for almost 200 days and is at 94% completion so it should be very close to finishing and I'd really like to try to get a successful validation on the result!

We don't interfere with running tasks, don't worry.

I didn't think that you would, but I wanted to make sure. Thanks!

300 days of run-time so far, and TOP inside the virtual machine says that it is still running. I hope it finishes soon!

The project status page says that one other person has an active task, so I guess it's an informal race to see who finishes first. 8)

You can look up the details on the work unit to see roughly how much longer it might take--yours got its first completion in roughly 387 days on a Xeon E5-2697 v2
Mine was first completed on an i7-740QM in just over 294 days, and I put in just over 241 days on a Xeon E5-2680 v3; so long as nothing untoward happens, I would expect it to finish sometime around 53 days from now...

Mine is at 310 days now, running on a Xeon E5-1650 v4. It is a MUCH faster single core CPU than the E5-2697 v2 so hopefully not much longer before it is done.

The interesting thing is that the task history shows that someone else also completed this task in 256 days with an i7-4790 about five months before the server gave the task to my computer. The first complete result that you mentioned was from 2015 so maybe the server figured that was too long of a time between results. The i7-4790 and E5-1650 v4 have virtually identical single core processing speeds so mine is already running long based on that estimate.

You did not even work a full year on it?
Been slacking, huh? :biggrin2:

Congrats!

Yup. I'm pretty lazy like that. :D

Now there's just the one task left that maj.error is running. Hopefully it doesn't have any major errors!
(Or if it does, give it to me so I can break the 1 million credits milestone before the project shuts down. ;))
