Hello,
I updated all cruncher applications to the latest 509 version of the distributed.net client. Here are the detailed changes:
Windows and PS3 versions are updated from 508->509:
2.9103-509
imp: x86: Intel Atom (#4080)
imp: x86: Pentium III detection (#4121)
imp: x86: Intel Core i7 detection (#4118)
fix: x86: Various AMD CPU Detections (#4074 & #4120)
fix: all: Fix OGR-NG middle mark limit miscalculation on odd rulers
fix: all: OGR-NG state restored properly after a restart
fix: linux: Improved OGR-NG cache management (#4076)
imp: all: Print combined OGR-NG stubs with more details (#4082)
fix: all: Combined OGR-NG stubs no longer appear to restart (#4083)
Mac PPC/Intel, Linux 32/64, Solaris are updated from 507->509 and contains now also the new up to 30% faster MMX core and these changes:
2.9102-508
new: x86: OGR-NG mmx core
imp: x86: Identify AMD "Unknown" processors (#4106)
fix: x86: Pentium M naming (#4075)
They are now also increase there progress bar by 14,3% steps.
If there is any problem, please report them.

Re: Cruncher application updated
I just started running this again on my PS3, after running a couple days it slows way down and takes forever to finish a WU(if at all), when I check the task monitor it show 10-20 dnets apps running while after a reboot it only has 5-6. is this a known problem or something goofy while my machine?
Thanks,
Thanks,

Re: Cruncher application updated
This is not known.
I know that sometimes dnet keeps hanging in memory if Boinc switches the project or Boinc is stopped. In this cases it can lead to multiple dnet processes hanging around.

Re: Cruncher application updated
well, it's not a project switching problem since I disconnected from other project when I run here(and vise-versa). and the only time boinc stops(that I'm aware of) is to run it's periodical benchmarks.

I received the message below when I downloaded a new cruncher wu. It appears I do not have enough memory to run the job. Have the memory requirements been increased with the new application?
Thanks for the help.

Re: Cruncher application updated
last night I joined yoyo with ydl/ps3 using dotsch app, http://www.dotsch.de/boinc/BOINC%20Clients.html and have WUs crunching. I get a similar message: 5/1/2009 7:45:14 AM|yoyo@home|Message from server: Your computer has 210.08MB of memory, and a job requires 1716.61MB
besides the obvious coming up just a bit short, what does this mean?
I am new to this project and ps3--I have no idea how a ps3 works, yet, not sure what I can do about the memory shortage unless this a swap matter. not knowing any better with a ps3 I went with the recommended swap for ydl6.1 which I believe was 512.
recommendations needed.
thanks.

Re: Cruncher application updated
Only certain Yoyo workunits have such huge memory requirements (afaik. only a subset of the ECM workunits is affected).
You can choose which Yoyo subproject you want to crunch on this page :
http://www.rechenkraft.net/yoyo/prefs.p ... et=project
For a PS3, the distributed.net client probably will have the highest thoughput, so you might want to try the OGR workunits (optimal golumb ruler) - it is optimized to use all cores of a PS3
