ECM - huge task duration

Same here. I have two ecm_cn tasks, each of them at 2% after 19 hours calculation time. Most likely I will not make the deadline which is April 9 and 10, respectively...

Computer is an AMD Ryzen 9 3900 12-Core with 32 GB RAM.

From returned results I see that they need 24-34 hours.

Hm, this looks strange, doesn't it? Elapsed time (6 hours) vs. CPU time (> 1 day). Other ecm tasks such as ecm_as or ecm_op are running smoothly.

I'm on a RaspberryPi 4. Four ecm_cn tasks are running, and after approx 8 days (approx 25% complete), there are 25 days remaining, with deadline 2 days away. Yoyo's comment (#14) doesn't make much sense in these circumstances.

The comment was for Intel/AMD CPU not for ARM processor.

OK, but may I suggest that Cunningham tasks are not suitable for ARM processors: 15 days elapsed, 21 days remaining. It would be nice to have tasks that are achievable in 2 days or so.

Whats up with ecm WUs . I got 4 right now 3 with 44 days left with a Jan 2nd deadline last one is 23days left with a Dec 28th dead line . Should I just dump them and stop doing YOYO . My guess is there meant for a GPU not CPU .I am running a I7-12700 32 gigs of ram . There is no way if Bonic is right to get them done on time I hate to dump any WU but I can not see wasting my CPU

And what is your DCF (duration correction factor) in BOINC?

I just looked at logs and they completed and uploaded . Looks like the days left is just wrong . All the other WUs I run the time to complete is right on or real close . But seems every ECM task I get time is wrong so I will ignore the time from now on .

There is nothing wrong with them.
There was good reason for why Yoyo asked you to specify the DFC: When starting new tasks, BOINC cannot know what time your machine will take to complete them, so initially it massively overestimates that duration. Over time, when you complete more and more of the same type of tasks, BOINC will more and more accurately approximate the true duration. Just follow it closely for a while...
