First of all, sorry for not writing any blogs for about a week. I have been busy doing interesting interviews and sketching like a mad man on the new capsule.
The new design for Tycho Deep Space II is still in a very early stage and some days I have great progress and some many setbacks. To get all geometry and systems fitted together is not easy, but very fun to work with. At the moment I am thinking about throwing it all away and start fresh. Maybe you can help out?
The trick is getting the hatch to fit the seating in such a small volume. At first we placed the hatch on the side (90 degrees vs the astronaut) providing necessary space for even an inwards opening hatch. However, this creates a big problem after splashdown where you need to stabilize the capsule with a hatch pointing towards the sky for easy access, without flooding the capsule. But, with a hatch on the side our astronaut will be hanging sideways strapped to the seat which is a plain stupid way to end a ride into space.

@Horn - waere das auch nicht eine weitere moegliche Verwendungsmoeglichkeit von Constellation bzw Nutzung der Trackjack Daten?
