The Lattice Project ist ähnlich wie das World Community Grid kein eigenständiges Distributed Computing Projekt, sondern eine komplexe Grid-Infrastruktur, die von Forschern der Universität von Maryland entwickelt wurde und in der diverse Projekte ablaufen können. Das Interessante an Lattice Project ist die Verschmelzung von GLOBUS mit Condor und BOINC. Seit Entwicklungsbeginn im Jahre 2003 sind insgesamt 21 bereits existierende Bioinformatik-Tools auf das Lattice Project portiert worden. Darunter sind unter anderem Sequenzalignmentprogramme wie BLAST und ClustalW, Programme zur Vorhersage von RNA Strukturen (Pknots), sowie eine ganze Serie von Tools zur phylogenetischen Analyse (PAUP, LAMARC, PHYLM, usw.). Hintergrund dieser Bemühungen ist der immense Rechenbedarf moderner bioinformatischer Analysen.

Bisher zeigt der Client noch keine eigenen Grafiken bei der Berechnung an, die allgemeinen BOINC-Screenshots zeigen aber, wie der Client arbeitet. Wenn BOINC als Bildschirmschoner läuft, wird bei diesem Projekt das BOINC-Logo angezeigt.
