Das Projekt Outsmart Ebola Together wurde am 3. Dezember 2014 gestartet. Ziel ist die Suche nach Wirkstoffen zur Behandlung von Ebola.
Bei Ebola handelt es sich um einen Virus. Der Krankheitsverlauf endet in 90% aller Fälle tödllich. Outsmart Ebola Together im World Community Grid will Wirkstoffe zur Behandlung dieser Viruserkrankung finden.

Einer Nachricht vom 3. Oktober 2018 zufolge wird die aktuelle Phase des Projekts in den nächsten drei oder vier Wochen abgeschlossen. Die Wissenschaftler haben genug Daten gesammelt. Insgesamt wurden 350 Millionen Ergebnisse von den Teilnehmern an dieses Distributed computing-Projekt zurückgemeldet. Diese sollen nun untersucht werden. Erst dann wird entschieden, ob zusätzliche Rechenarbeit benötigt werden wird.
