Evaluation took place in 4 categories, each awarding credits ranging from 0 to 5 points, and an overall rating. We had employed an evaluation board of 4 people, the (rounded) average was used. Published evaluations.
Inhalt
Category 1: Reliability
In terms of reliability, the Muon client is most recommendable. Once started it runs smoothly in the background. However, poor handling, the long training time and a missing GUI has been criticized, so there could not be achieved full marks.
Category 2: Communication policy
On the Website you can find almost everything your heart desires: Forum, Jabber, Twitter and so on. However, everything is crammed onto the page, which makes it rather confusing for newcomers --> A certain amount of search effort is needed.
Category 3: Instructions
Because of it's missing GUI the client is a novelty for most (Windows) user. Thats the reason, why the existing guidance is not sufficient. Moreover, the instructions are only available in English.
Category 4: Benefit for the general public
The project is necessary to perform experiments with the smallest known particles. Although there is not an obvious benefit to the community visible, it is very basic research on which other projects can build upon.
Overall Rating
We consider Muon to be a recommendable DC-project. Only the user-friendliness of the client and it's guidance is worth improving it.
