The project carries out simulations that can be calculated by DC and deals with aviation and aerospace.

Currently, three simulations are running:

  • TrackJack: trajectory optimization of launchers, satellites and probes
  • On The Moon: simulation of Moon's near-surface exosphere
  • Extreme Machine: analysis of dynamic systems of exploration-rovers

Further simulation ideas are very wellcome.

Duration is the average computing time needed, having the CPU clocked at the variable.
Deadline is the timespan, within which the Work unit needs to be finished.

Installation

Constellation uses the BOINC infrastructure. The registration, installation and configuration are described in the user manual.

Project milestones

  • December 21st, 2009 - Graduate colloquium "Rechnergestützte Methode zur Optimierung der 2D-Aufstiegsbahn einer mehrstufigen Trägerrakete unter Berücksichtigung des Massenverhältnisses von Treibstoff zur Nutzlast" at the University of Bremen in Mechanical Engineering / Aviation and Aerospace. Already in the thesis is a section on distributed computing with BOINC included. The thesis is the basis for the jack-track application.
  • June 1st, 2010 am 18.30 o'clock - on the campus of the University of Stuttgart Vaihingen the project of the DGLR District Group Stuttgart is presented Aviation and aerospace project "Constellation": round table & planning
  • October 28th, 2010 - Start of closed test run. Invitation code is given out for simulation ideas Constellation: Best 20 sim-ideas gets invite code!
  • December 22nd, 2010 from 00:39 till 23.12.2010 23:59:59 o'clock - winter solstice untill Christmas: 100 codes for more reviewers. On Decemer 23rd, 2010 at 9:54:06 o'clock all codes issued.
