Hello,
be prepared for the "final push for ogr challenge".
This race starts at 1. September 0:00 UTC and ends at 15. September 0:00 UTC.
The team and user with the most credits in this period is the winner.

The goal of this race is to push the OGR project a bit to its final goal. Currently more than 90% are finished and we hope that the project will still finish in 2008. The OGR project searches for a optimal Golomb rulers of order 25.
We encourage each participant to enable only the cruncher application during the race and switch muon and evolution@home off.

The race stats can be seen at boincstats.

Happy Crunching,
yoyo

I hope someone who can draw will create some artwork to reflect the goal of this Ogre race. ;-)

Do all WUs count that are returned in that period, or only those that also have been downloaded in that period?

All WUs that are returned in the race period are counted.

Wow! What interesting information. I wonder if the PS3 numbers can be right? Will be interesting to see these at the end. :-)

Thank you for posting.

With all that late slowness caused by big WU's, do you still expect the race to finish early? Do you even expect to finish all WU's at the end of the race? First days of the race were optimistic, projected end of OGR was around 9-10.09... Now it jumped to October with 1- and 3-days-average and 16.09 with one-week-average.

I guess nobody can tell you that. Currently, there is a slight increase in production and WUs are finished faster. But their sice is inpredictable, so we can only hope to finish OGR in time. The race did already speed up things a lot, Yoyo@home currently delivers about 5.5 Million Gnodes/day, that's three times the production of before the race.

Thanks for a reply.

While I know that no-one can tell me that for sure, I just wanted to hear if admins are positive about finishing OGR challenge before the race end or not, basing on the late slowness of the OGRs due to their big size.

Some of us were so happy that we'll be able to finish that race before the end time and switch to PrimeGrid race, that is starting soon, but then the speed dropped so much and we're unsure about it now...
