Hi

[/quote]Major Distant Suns Announcement
I am pleased to announce that the first test version of a new Distant Suns
spin-off is available. Over the past several months I have been working to
turn Distant Suns into an Active-X component, and am now looking for eager
developers to give it a whirl.
"DSX" encapsulates most of the functionality of Distant Suns in a compact
(relatively speaking), component which can be added to MFC or Visual Basic
projects permitting developers to create their own customized astronomical
software. The features which require large databases have been stripped, but
virtually all of the on-Earth functionality is still present.
Developers may command DSX to load or save event files, set the date, toggle
various display elements, aim around at different parts of the sky or
collect current data of various astronomical objects.
This might be used for custom telescope control software or an astronomy
module for an interactive encyclopedia or navigator's tool set.
Full-documentation comes with the SDK, along with example projects for both
MFC and VB applications.
This is the Alpha 1 release, so will be limited to only about a dozen or so
requests merely to shake out any bugs and address any pressing issues which
I may not have thought of.
DSX is for private use only for the time being during this testing period.
Special licensing is available for commercial interests, please contact me
for more details.
Email your requests to developer@distantsuns.com, with a general outline of
what your experience is.
