Muon: WU shows no progress

#1 Ungelesener Beitrag von kroefr » 12.03.2012 13:30

Hello all,

I have some WUs that show no progress (from a certain point).
These are: http://www.rechenkraft.net/yoyo/workuni ... d=11611028, http://www.rechenkraft.net/yoyo/workuni ... d=11611265, and http://www.rechenkraft.net/yoyo/workuni ... d=11611384 on this computer, and http://www.rechenkraft.net/yoyo/workuni ... d=11602683 on this computer.

http://www.rechenkraft.net/yoyo/workuni ... d=11611028 now shows 06h38m elapsed time, while real CPU time is only 3 sec.;
http://www.rechenkraft.net/yoyo/workuni ... d=11611265 now shows 13h35m elapsed time, while real CPU time is only 2 sec., and
http://www.rechenkraft.net/yoyo/workuni ... d=11611384 now shows 13h09m elapsed time, while real CPU time is only 2 sec.

The fourth one (http://www.rechenkraft.net/yoyo/workuni ... d=11602683) failed yesterday with a calculation error, after it had been running for 3d00h59m, while the real CPU time was 1h08m. This WU had the progress bar at 100% for about 2 days (so time remaining was at 0).

What is going on here? Should I abort the remaining WUs? What do you advise?

Regards,
Ruud

Hello again,

As mentioned before, the WU on this system failed earlier, but on this system I have a fourth WU that does not show any more progress: http://www.rechenkraft.net/yoyo/workuni ... d=11611033.
The elapsed time is now at 15h46m, and still increasing, while the real CPU time is steady at 3h03m. Of course the remaining time is also increasing.
What to do?

Cheers,
Ruud

Re: Muon: WU shows no progress (SOLVED?)

Forum,

Yesterday night I 'had to' restart Windows after the monthly batch of updates.
The fourth WU I mentioned in my last post had been running for more than 2 days, while the real CPU time remained at 3h03m all the time.
After the restart this WU restarted at a point close to this 3h03m, and both elapsed time and real CPU time started increasing.
Meanwhile this and 2 of the WUs I mentioned in my first post have successfully completed.
So, conclusion is, that the restart solved the problem. But the mystery remains: what caused these WUs to act like this?
As this turns out to be a local issue, we will probably never know.

Regards,
Ruud
