So then even the progress percentage is unreliable for how long the calculations will take? Oh well. We'll see how well it goes :) Thanks again!

Typical behavior, from my experience, is... once progress gets locked at 98.765%, you are about 35-60% done :)

Oof. If that's the case, I've got about 100 days to get to 98%, based on current percentages and times.

Have fun!
Jacob is really having fun with those monsters as you can read all over this and some other threads. :biggrin2:

That's a long time!

Hello,

I have one of the long running tasks. I don't mind the time - at least not too much.
However, I just looked at http://www.rnaworld.de/rnaworld/workuni ... id=6330887 and I noticed that out of about 80 people, no one has yet successfully completed this task.
Is it worth letting it run?

Thanks!

Actually, if you search on that page for the word "Completed", you'll see that I completed it in August :)
Yes - As long as it is using CPU in Task Manager, and as long as CPU Time is increasing in BOINC, then Yes - Let it run.
Ignore the Progress % (which will eventually cap off at 98.765 while still running successfully), and ignore Remaining (estimated), as it is inaccurate.

For your reference, here are some ballpark estimates for your completion of the task, based on calculations of my completion:
Threads: You All, Wingman All: 17,189,450 198d 22:50:50
Threads: You All, Wingman Half: 32,332,892 374d 5:21:32
Threads: You Half, Wingman All: 10,803,811 125d 1:03:31
Threads: You Half, Wingman Half: 20,321,677 235d 4:54:37
BOINC Measured FLOPS (million ops/sec): 18,178,377 210d 9:32:57

So, realistically, I'd expect it to run about 200-300 days CPU time, on your PC, before completing.

Congrats to Jubert26
...for completing a long runner that took 118.8 days CPU Time, and validated mine!
