Hello,
in the next phase ecm will be wrapped. Ecm is a program for Elliptic Curve Factorization which is used by a couple of projects which try to find factors for different kind of numbers.
These projects are using ecm:
- Oddperfect
- ECMNET
- ElevenSmooth
- XYYXF
- Homogeneous Cunningham numbers

Some test wus for Linux are currently running.
- applications for win, mac, 64bit will be probably available in the future
- there are checkpoints round about every 10min
- wus run only some minutes now, but in future wus will run up to 5h
- no progress bar currently

To participate on the first tests you must enable test applications in your yoyo@home preferences.

vom stderr-out schaut eine aber etwas komisch aus: Hier gehts direkt zur WU
Vielleicht wirfst du mal nen Blick drauf, andere haben den Exit-Status nicht !!!

Ist in Ordnung so. Der ExitStaus:2 sagt, dass DU einen Faktor gefunden hast. Das war auch der Sinn in dieser Serie an Test Wus.

I got some as well (2024816 and 2024189 ), they run seemingly without any problems. If EXIT_STATUS: 2 is the desired outcome, I don't seem to be the lucky guy

One thing though: The credits are very low. Is it because it's 32bit on a 64bit system? Or because it's alpha? I don't mind for now, but it should be adjusted in the future.

I saw your host crunching and getting less credits because it is an Intel based system. The app is currently optimized for AMD and seems to be 3 times faster than Intel. All wus had the same content and therefore I granted the same credits to all, which is to less for Intel and to much for AMD .
Means credit system is not fixed yet.

That's what I like about fixed credits: It shows you whether your system suits the project or not. I get far more then I usually get on 2 sub-projects in CPDN because of this (Intel with 64bit Linux), now I get less because I don't fit in. That's fine.

I won't run it probably once it's out of beta under these conditions, as I would consider it a waste of energy, but how should I know without such things with credits?

with Version 0.04 the Intel version is nearly as fast as the AMD version. Additional I created a 64 bit Linux version and 50 new wus.

If it will as well be 16.50 it would be quite over the top.

btw: zur gestrigen Frage im Seti-Chan
Ich hab gerade eine ecm erwischt (App 0.05) bei der weder im offiziellen BoincManager noch in BoincView eine Fortschrittsanzeige hochläuft (steht seit 10 CPU-Minuten auf 0%; "verbleibend" steht konstant bei 1:07:49)

EDIT: war nach knapp 30 Minuten ohne Fortschritt fertig die WU gibts hier

Das bei den derzeitigen ECM-WUs kein Fortschrittsbalken "mitläuft" ist normal. Ist derzeit noch nicht implementiert - denke (und hoffe) aber, dass Yoyo das einbauen wird, sobald ECM aus der ersten Testphase erwachsen ist.

könnte man bitte die deadline etwas hochsetzen??
2 Stunden sind doch etwas kurz...Meine Rechner sind sofort in den Panik-Modus gegangen.
Ausserdem habe ich ecm in den preferences garnicht angewählt;trotzdem hat jeder Rechner
eine WU bekommen..!?! sehr seltsam...
