evo for linux
Re: evo for linux
I am using 32 bit wine. I have multi-libs installed. It doesn't matter. I have the same problem on my 32-bit machine. Perhaps it's the version of wine I'm using, but things work as stand alone. For some reason the boinc user tries to open a config file at /root/.wine.
Re: evo for linux
Boinc doesn't open anything from wine. It just runs
wine evo.
You can see it in the job.xml
yoyo
wine evo.

Re: evo for linux
I didn't say boinc, I said the boinc "user". In Gentoo, the boinc program is run by the boinc user. The default for the Wine config file is '~/.wine', but the home of the boinc user is /var/lib/boinc. However, the system is still trying to open it up in root's home folder.
Anyways, I got it working by changing wine's prefix to '/usr/local/boinc/.wine' and made sure the ownership of /usr/local/boinc was boinc. It's an ugly hack, but a pretty result.

Re: evo for linux
I just installed Wine and evo yesterday on my Xubu-box. I don't know if it works though, because of I did a fresh install and all the DCFs have to be determined again, so other projects are panicking first. But a Wu is downloaded, so far so good.
But what's known about the performance of Evo under Wine? I have no experience with Wine, so I don't know how it affects performance. Does evo run as fast as on Windows or much slower because of Wine-intervention?
And what about evo- application updates. Will they be reported in this thread so a subscription to this thread will suffice and we (I ) don't have to regularly visit this thread to get the latest version?
Thanks,
Bart

Re: evo for linux
Probably found the fix:
cd /var/lib/boinc-client/projects/www.rechenkraft.net_yoyo
sudo chown boinc:boinc *
It seems its a problem of rights.
After decompressing the files, they all belong to my user.
It seems this is not a problem with muon project but it failed with evo project.
Hope this help

Re: evo for linux
Hello,
I tested the two apps for Evolution@home (the evo alone and the combined app).
In the two cases, the WU are downloaded but immediately stop and display error.
I run the following OS, with the last wine and boinc-client provided.
