Distributed Hardware Evolution Project

Hallo! Es tut mir leid, mein Deutsch ist nicht sehr gut!..

But I'd like to announce that the Distributed Hardware Evolution Project is back online! At http://www.dhep.ga if you'd like to resume clocking stats all previous ones have been kept!..

For those who haven't heard of it you can host an island containing hardware designs evolving with a Genetic Algorithm to be super-reliable and signal when they're failing. Read more here: https://www.newscientist.com/article/dn ... tal-world/ and in your own site here http://www.rechenkraft.net/wiki/index.php?title=DHE

Best of luck and any questions don't hesitate to get in touch!.

Cheers,
The DHEP Team

Very nice of you to inform us directly in our forum. Thanks a lot. :D
If I understand correctly, it is not a BOINC project? Ever thought of integrating it? If so, please ask Yoyo...

Michael.

Hello Michael thanks for your reply. Yes plan is to get it on BOINC eventually. We're in the middle of writing up a publication at the moment and tweaking some performance aspects of the server. However yes I understand there are some technicalities to getting a cross platform Java client on BOINC but we'll do our best.

But for now you can get a head start in the stats! ;) ;)

So hab mich mal kurzweilig damit beschäftigt.

MichaelDHEP - it seems that max concurrent cores are 10? Is this intended or should the client use more of them? Would love to see this integrated in BOINC, much easier to manage.

You are correct. That is a limitation of the installer. I wasn't aware of this until a few days ago. It's on our tracking system to get sorted. In the meantime you can spawn more cores manually following the "Manual Installation with GUI" instructions at http://www.dhep.ga/download.php#winnt .

How many cores do you have?

I use an AMD Threaripper, so 16 cores or 32 threads.

OK thanks we'll try and get an installer out that supports that ASAP.

We'll look at getting onto BOINC too but that may take a little longer.

Cheers

As suggested above: You may ask Yoyo to get it integrated as a Yoyo@home subproject by using the wrapper...
